Event Horizon - Jean Damei & Géza Frank
Event Horizon's first album was released in December 2017. The concept album features 10 tracks inspired by cosmological and astrophysical themes such as "Photon Waves", "Runaway Stars", "Pulsars" and "Meteor Showers".
Centering in around Géza Frank's and Jean Damei's virtuosic playing of their original compositions rooted within traditional Scottish and Irish music, producers Tyler Duncan, Jake Birch and Barry Reid respectively created the electronic soundscapes and beats to accomplish the opus and create a new type of music - elevating, danceable and inspiring.

From January 29th to February 1st, Event Horizon visited the premises of CERN near Geneva in order to shoot a new music video as well as a documentary about the project. The visit, during which the musicians could visit the underground facilities of the ATLAS and CMS detectors was a tremendous inspiration. The interviews conducted with the local scientists, were hugely informational and the exchanges will serve as inspiration for the music of a new album to be recorded in 2018!

Shows

Event Horizon performances can take different forms and can adjust to venue sizes and audiences. At the center of our live performances stand the performances of Géza Frank, Jean Damei and David Lombardi, accompanied by Barry Reid, who plays synthesizers and triggers electronic music components.
Depending on venue size, visual arts, light shows, orchestras and world leading Irish as well as hip hop dancers can be added to the show to bring the full Event Horizon experience to the audience.

About

Backgrounds

Jean Damei and Géza Frank are professional folk musicians with backgrounds in fire fighting and the army. Their love for celtic music, combined with a deep interest in cosmology and astrophysics, unites them in Event Horizon.

Idea

Since Géza Frank and Jean Damei are experts in Irish and Scottish traditional music, it was their whish to use the essence of these musical traditions to create something new - a music anchored in our own time, the age of space exploration. Event Horizon combines elements of traditional acoustic folk music and contemporary electronic music to create soundscapes that link past, presence and future in vivid colours.

Vision

The vision behind Event Horizon is to create a series of albums and corresponding performances, uniting music, dance, light and visuals to communicate the importance and beauty of space exploration to larger audiences. The respect for historically grown cultures is equally as important as the focus on a future common goal for all humanity - which for Event Horizon is the securing of mankinds destiny among the stars...
